Where are the best places to stay?
There is a wide range of chalets and houses to rent in the Mont Blanc valley. Depending on what you want, Chamonix Planet suggests the best areas to book.
- Chamonix Town centre: there are a few chalets to rent close to the shopping centre. This means you can enjoy all the entertainment in the resort centre without having to take the car. If you’re looking for a bit of peace and quiet, you can climb up the hill towards the Moussoux district to enjoy a beautiful view of Mont Blanc and direct access to the Brévent ski area.
Bois du Bouchet: enjoy a stay in a green setting while making the most of your holiday. - Les Praz: In the village of Les Praz, you’ll find a number of shops, including a restaurant and a newspaper. If you’re a swing enthusiast, the Chamonix golf course is also located in Les Praz.
From Argentière to Vallorcine
- Argentière: the resort of Argentière is part of the Chamonix conurbation, but it’s a 15-minute drive between the 2 towns. For freeride fans, it’s possible to stay in Argentière to ski the Grands Montets area.
- Le Tour : This hamlet is nestled at the end of the Mont Blanc valley after Argentière. It’s a magical place in summer, with breathtaking views of the glaciers and the Mont Blanc range. In winter, you can ski on the Tour / Balme ski area.
Vallorcine: Vallorcine is the last village before Switzerland. It is located after the Col des Montets. In winter, access will be more difficult if there is heavy snowfall.Les Houches Area
- Les Houches: Booking accommodation in Les Houches can be a good compromise in terms of value for money. For downhill skiers, there is a large ski area in Les Houches, including the ‘Kandahar’ World Cup piste.
- Servoz: the village of Servoz has retained its authentic atmosphere. You can find houses to rent for a reasonable price. However, the location is not central. It’s a 20-minute drive from the centre of Chamonix.
